There’s no need to take the ferry across the harbor to find great coffee shops when you’re on Staten Island, NY. We have suggestions for your next cup of coffee, whether you need a quick jolt to start the day or are looking forward to a cozy afternoon catch-up with friends.

1. Beans and Leaves

Located at 422 Forest Ave, Beans and Leaves is a relaxed cafe that pays homage to the French countryside. Dig into one of the cafe’s award-winning, house-made Belgian waffles with your choice of fair-trade coffee roasts and loose-leaf teas. And with your Subaru Crosstrek’s keyless entry, you won’t have to use your roof as a temporary cup holder while you try to manage your keys.

2. Royal Coffee House Roasters & Bakery

The Royal Coffee House, located at 4852 Arthur Kill Rd, is the place to go if you’re looking for high-quality Turkish coffee on Staten Island. The space includes a beautifully decorated seating area in which guests can gather to enjoy Turkish coffee and tea, crepes, and more. On your way out, don’t miss a stop at the coffee house’s in-house bakery, which uses organic ingredients.

3. Bloom Cafe

Coffee lovers who prefer to eat plant-based will love Bloom Cafe, found at 1203 Bay Street. The cafe offers a variety of specialty coffees and teas, as well as vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free menu options. Bloom serves Think Coffee, a local brand that uses a portion of its proceeds to fund housing, clean water, and education projects in farming communities.

4. Every Thing Goes Book Cafe and Neighborhood Stage

This Staten Island institution is a used bookstore, record shop, art gallery, performance space, and cafe all wrapped into one. The space, at 208 Bay St., features multiple eclectically decorated rooms that include plenty of comfortable seating, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, a whimsical backyard, and even a listening station for record lovers. All of Every Thing Goes’ coffee is organic and free-trade.

5. Northside Coffee

Northside Coffee is a modern craft coffee house located at 605 Forest Ave. They serve a variety of pastries, tea, and Oslo Coffee and are known for pulling a fantastic espresso shot. Visitors can enjoy their breakfasts on the spacious outdoor patio in the back, which is lit with string lights and offers plentiful shade thanks to umbrella-sheltered seating.

No matter what kind of coffee-drinking experience you’re looking for, one of Staten Island’s locally-owned cafes will have a drink to meet the moment. Grab your go-to order or try something new from one of our favorite spots. Then come visit us at Island Subaru, and we’ll help you find a vehicle that meets the moment, too.
